Fluss Albini
Tomorrow afternoon I leave for London for a single show. Right now I have the opposite of wanderlust. I have lazy days, sitting on the couch-lust. I am roadweary, and yet haven't even left the house. I'll be in London for a few days, most likely missing the Nick Cave show, then jetting back to Boston for a few, and then to Chicago, which at that point I will have lost my mind several times over from unrelenting jet lag. So it goes. In totally unrelated news, are you shitting me?
Yesterday I walked down the block to see The Breeders at Amoeba. It was really great. We were crammed between the Blues and World Music sections, and ran into a few friends along the way. Kim Deal chatted (as she does) for a bit about making the new record, and the subject of Steve Albini's cat Fluss came up. There is a good deal of lore surrounding Fluss, that I've heard before. He died a few years ago, at the ripe old age of 23, but not before being credited as a producer on several Breeders and Jawbreaker tracks. He is listed under the electrical audio staff as 'the best cat ever.'
See you in a few...
