A Walk in the Woods
I've been reading Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods about his misadventures on the Appalachian Trail. I've been pretty fascinated by the prospect of walking a 2,100 mile trail. It seems pretty brutal, and takes most people (most being the 10 percent that actually make it all the way from Georgia to Maine) around eight months to hike the whole thing. I figured a decent primer might be a middle-aged humorist's account of his attempt to hike the trail with his jovial, yet dangerously overweight companion. I keep myself up at night laughing to myself. In that spirit, I hiked the Cataract Falls trail the other day on one of my handful of days off. It's no AT, 3 miles or so, but it was a good time.

Thats a good book, the author helped me understand the maganitiude of such a venture. That trail is freaking LONG.
