Today I will mostly be drinking Africola

I recently downloaded the first three faith no more records. They have absolutely been keeping me going through the European winter. For no particular reason they are the perfect soundtrack. I've grown to appreciate their original singer as much as Mike Patton, even if he does sound a little retarded. I'm in Hamburg today at our second of 2 shows at the docks. This is the fourth, maybe fifth circle of hell. We have crammed so much crap into this tiny club that the stage appears on the verge of bursting. There aren't enough chairs for everyone to sit down backstage, so we work in turns. Hamburg, though, is an incredible city. I am pretty intrigued by a nautical life and all the trappings of a sailor. It's a pretty hard, but interesting life. I'm also into their football team, if only because their logo is a skull and crossbones, and they are anti-fascist, but who isn't in this day and age? I'm pretty disjointed today. Last night I had the best night's sleep that I've had in months. I curled up in a big, comfy hotel bed and watched 3:10 to Yuma until I passed out. Incidentally, I thought the movie was pretty good, but not worth all the fuss that friends had made over it. Today I feel over rested, if that is a thing. It's been an exhausting trip, but I feel like I'm getting into the swing of it. Paris and Brussels were both massive shows for the band. 2 sold out arenas. We made it bright.

The ride from the hotel in Brussels to the venue (in theory, about 20 minutes) took us an hour and a half. Due to rush hour traffic and narrow Belgian streets we drove past the front door 3 times and ended up on the highway going in the opposite direction before our bus driver managed to get us there. We sat in the back lounge remarking on how much of our days/weeks/months is spent wasting time, driving around strange, foreign cities, lost. In response I busied myself with a map of our morning's journey. Here it is, drawn mostly in real time, not at all close to scale.

There is pride in ownership...

We got this bottle of wine on the bus the other night. It was the first time I had seen braille on a bottle of alcohol. Do the blind drink? I think someone made reference to being blind drunk. Who knows?

I am going to hibernate when I get home. I don't see why I can't. Winter comes, leaves fall off of trees, animals go to sleep, why can't I? A visual representation, if I may (thanks for the photo Tim).

Africola is East German soda with 250mg of caffeine. It helps in the long, cold winter months when there is no sunshine.
